As of Sept 30, 2020, SCDSB has decided they will not be accepting practicum/placements for the fall and winter terms of the 2020-2021 school year.

Effective January 1, 2021, SCDSB will be acccepting in-school and virtual practicum placements. All teacher candidates must meet the following pre-placement requirements:

+ Criminal Background Check including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, issued less than 6 months before the placement start, must be provided to SCDSB within 14 days before the first day of placement. A scan of the original CBC-VSS must be sent to practicum@scdsb.on.ca

  • If a placement student has any type of irregularity indicated in their documentation, they will be instructed to include with the CBC/VSS a sealed letter addressed to the SCDSB Superintendent of Human Resource Services explaining their circumstance.
  • SCDSB is interested in a system where the documents are received once at the beginning of the school year.  If there are no transgressions by the student that may impact the safe operation of our schools and the students therein, approval will be for the remainder of the school year. We ask that the university/college and the student inform the SCDSB of any changes.
