For many of you, learning will be a life long passion!
Here are two of the most common avenues of further study that our graduates pursue:
Additional Qualifications (AQ)
Most AQ course providers allow you to begin taking courses as soon as your B.Ed. program is complete. If you plan to take an AQ through a provider other than Western, you will be required to submit proof of completion of your B.Ed. (can be provided by the Teacher Education office).
At Western, AQ courses are offered through the Faculty of Education’s ASPIRE Office. Details on course offerings, delivery method (most are online) and admission requirements are found on their website. Questions can be directed to ASPIRE staff in person in room 1090, by telephone at 519-661-2092 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A full listing of AQ course offerings in Ontario is available through the OCT AQ Directory.
Laddering into a Master of Professional Education (MPEd)
Our Bachelor of Education graduates have the opportunity to gain advanced standing in our MPEd, a professionally-focused, course-based Master’s degree delivered completely online, allowing students to work full-time during their studies.
MPEd Laddering info sessions will be scheduled throughout the year – typically we’ll host a Year 1 info session in January and a Year 2 info session in October. Watch your 5008 Transition to Professional Practice schedule for details.
