I’m in Year 2 and currently on my Alternative Field Experience…what are the attendance expectations for Good Friday and Easter Monday?
Teacher Candidates should follow their AFE Supervisor’s schedule regarding all holidays.
For example, if the AFE organization is closed on Good Friday you’ll have the day off. If they’re open on Easter Monday and your AFE Supervisor is working, you’re expected to be there as well.
Where should I be on PD Days?
Continue to follow your AFE Supervisor’s schedule. In almost all cases, a PD Day is considered a mandatory working day for teachers. You should be joining your AFE Supervisor for the full length of their work days.
What are the minimum number of hours required for AFE 2?
AFE 2 is expected to be full-time from April 1 to 26, 2019 (4 weeks). We consider “full-time” to be at least six hours per day, five days per week, for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Always follow your AFE Supervisor’s hours…if they work 8 hours a day, then you are expected to as well. If there is a statutory holiday, like Good Friday, you are not required to make up those hours.
