Year 1 – Professionalism: Federation Day

Ontario Teachers Federation: Federation Day (Auditorium)

As teachers in public school boards across Ontario, you’ll become members of the Ontario Teachers Federation affiliates. These afternoon sessions will go into detail about how the federation supports teachers and what it means to be an affiliate member throughout your BEd. Register to attend the session related to the area you plan to teach in.

Professional Boundaries – Federation Presentation (Auditorium)

Peter Bates, PhD, Executive Assistance, Education Services Department OSSTF

Experience in the Professional Relations and Services Department has confirmed that many instances of teachers facing allegations of physical or sexual misconduct or investigations by the employer are often the result of the alleged allegations related to professional boundaries. This workshop focuses on maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and implementing best practice to minimize the risk of a teacher facing allegations or disciplinary action. Participants are encouraged to consistently use best practices and maintain exemplary professionalism at all times.
