Western Engineering Outreach will be hosting a free Coding and Engineering Professional Development Workshop for teacher candidates, occasional teachers and permanent teachers on November 3rd, 2018. I was hoping you would be able to share the information about the workshop with current teacher candidates to see if they are interested in attending.
The morning will consist of an introduction to the WEMADEIT in the Classroom program. This program offers 12 free curriculum linked hands-on activities for grades 7-8 with the potential to be expanded to grades 5-6. Our goal is to help teacher explore the STEM curriculum bring engineering into their classroom. For more information on the program please visit our website.
WEMADEIT has run successfully for the last four in the Waterloo District School Board, Toronto District School Board, Thames Valley District School Board, Lambton-Kent District School Board, and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. In total the program has reached over 400 teachers and 18000 students, and we are looking to further expand that with teacher candidates.
The afternoon portion will focus on how teachers can bring coding activities into their lessons to reach a variety of curriculum connections.
The event agenda is attached here.
The session will be offered to TVDSB teachers and Western Education Teacher Candidates and will focus on bringing engineering and coding to the classroom. Spaces are limited; please email Kelsey to register.
