Are instructors supposed to give us a 10-minute break during 2 hour classes, or finish the class 20 minutes early?
McNay: Senate policy says that instructors must allow you 10 minutes at the end of a class in order for you to get to your next class. Senate policy says nothing about breaks during 2-hour classes or about departure times after 2-hour classes. Scheduling a break, or scheduling more than 10 minutes of departure time, is at your instructor’s discretion.
In other words: Your instructor is not obliged to schedule a break for everyone in the middle of a 2-hour class, nor is your instructor obliged to schedule more than 10 minutes of departure time. If you need to take a short break, or to leave 10 minutes early at the end of a class, please just do so.
