Jan. 10 – Get “Career Expo Ready!”

9:00  – Welcome back, coming events,  updates on T2P  – Susan Graham

9:10 – “Elevator” – Chrisy Wadley , Teacher Candidate, Student Employment Consultant

9:15 – “What Not to Wear” – Mark, Giovanna and Co. (Auditorium)

9:30 – “Effective Use of LinkedIn – World’s Largest Professional Network” – Giovanna Vona, Teacher Candidates. Giovanna has a sales, marketing and communications background. Her experience varies from working as a Sales and Marketing Manager for a Tech start up, Social Media Coordinator for a children’s theatre company and Salon Digital Marketing.

9:45 – Break

10:00 -12:00 – Writing Teaching Resumes and Preparing for Interviews

Teacher Candidates will be provided with a framework and resources to assist to you in developing an effective resume and in preparing for the interview process. Facilitator: Cathy Renfrew, OSSTF

12:00-1:00: Lunch

1:00: Hands-on workshops (optional) . Please note: You must be preregistered for the afternoon workshops.

A. 1:00 -3:00 :  How’s your resume? Get ready for the Career Expo and for employment. In small groups, Teacher Candidates will have opportunity to update and professionalize their resumes. Facilitated by Staff and Teacher Candidates with previous resume experience,  resumes will be reviewed, targeted and strengthened. Bring a pencil and 1-2 paper copies of your most recent resume . (Please do not bring your laptop – paper copies are needed.)

 B. 1:00 -2:30: Creating a Teaching Portfolio (25 Participants only) This workshop will begin with a brief overview of the Teaching Portfolio. We then will continue with a make-and-take session in which Teacher Candidates are encouraged to bring a variety of materials they have collected (exemplars and sample lesson plans they have created, certificates, etc.) and begin to assemble the items in a professional format. Betsy Reilly (elementary) and Polly Stringle (secondary) will be there to guide participants and provide constructive suggestions for improvement.
